Twists and turns to an Epic Proposal
Imagine you were to watch a short video of an engagement proposal – he drops to one knee, she is genuinely surprised – and as the ring appears she says “YES!”
How would that impact you? You may feel some emotion along with the couple, but without one crucial element, the video would not have nearly the effect that it could.
That element is STORY.
When I first met Brooke and Dallas, I knew I wanted to re-create their proposal on the Blue Ridge Parkway in epic fashion – because it certainly was epic! But I also knew that the re-creation must pull in the appropriate amount of backstory, or no one would really know what it took to fulfill that special day.
We took this story journey together in multiple locations and camera shoots, gathering interview and location footage – to weave together a story of a couple finding each other as they trusted in God for His direction.
Only after taking the time to understand their background and feel the emotion and anticipation towards the big proposal, did I know what to deliver on-screen. I believe that by building the backstory, one can convey much more than a few scenes on top of a mountain could show alone. We had so much fun with the project that we edited a short “trailer” version to create buzz with friends and family before releasing the complete film.
This focus on the “why” is why I like to tell my couples – “Your Story is King – Let me treat You like Royalty.”
