The Special Privilege of Weddings
The experience of a wedding day is truly humbling as a cinematographer. Not only are you invited into an intimate and sacred gathering, but you are entrusted with telling the story of the couple – a story to be cherished in the many years ahead.
Filming for Michaela and Christopher was no different. From our initial meeting, getting to know their families, to meeting their Pastor, I understood a storyline that became my goal for the final film: to show this hopeful couple, making big decisions, embarking on this first big step of living a life fulfilled together.
Certainly, every wedding has beautiful elements from the day. The Bridge at Sunset proved to be an incredible setting with the mountains and Eastatoe River as a backdrop; while the smoked BBQ reception dinner highlighted the rustic nature and “family get together” atmosphere of the afternoon. While these and others are key remembrances of the day to many, my intent was to emphasize the “Who” and the “Why.” I believe that this focus on story conveys so much more meaning to a Wedding Film.
This is why I like to tell my couples – “Your Story is King – Let me treat You like Royalty.”
